Uploading and attaching files

There are several ways to attach files to transactions in Xero; from the transaction itself, using the Xero app from your phone or from the File Library.

You can attach files to invoices, quotes, expense receipts, contacts and inventory items. You can even send attached files to your customers with their invoices.

It’s easy to attach a file from the library and from within the library you can attach files to multiple transactions… There are heaps of different file types that can be imported; ask us if you’re not sure if a particular file type is supported.

To attach a file from a transaction or item first open it and click on the yoa-your-office-administrator-4 icon and choose Add from file library. Select the file you want to attach and click Add. You can add as many files as you want to your transaction. You can also create transactions directly from the file in the Inbox.

If you want to add a file to multiple locations you will need to send it to the file library first (look for this icon yoa-your-office-administrator-5 ) and save it to a specific folder within the library (you can create any number of folders you want). Select the item you want to attach and select Add to new. You can add to an invoice, bill, expense receipt or spend or receive money transactions.

Xero will keep the file in the library as well as attaching it to the transaction. It’s easy to see what transactions the file is attached to as Xero makes a note under the file.
